Police suspect murder-suicide in deaths of Laval couple

A 15-year-old Laval boy discovered the bodies of his parents Tuesday in what police are calling a murder-suicide.

Police said Mahmoub el-Hage and his estranged wife Jinane Ghannoum were found dead in the basement of the family home on De Mézières Place in the Laval-des-Rapides neighbourhood.

They both had gunshot wounds to their heads. Police are still investigating who fired the weapon that was found at the scene.

Laval police Sgt. François Dumais said the couple had been going through a messy divorce and had a history of domestic violence.

"The separation was difficult and we had to [answer calls] at the address about domestic violence since August of last year," said Dumais...

Man charged in Oshawa homicide

A woman has been found dead and her common-law husband has been charged in what police are calling a "domestic-type homicide" in Oshawa.

Just before 10 p.m. last night, officials were called to Cunningham Ave. near Stevenson Rd. N. and Rossland Rd. W. for a disturbance call, said Durham Region police.

They found Sherry Martin, 52, dead with obvious signs of trauma on her body.

Police arrested Ken Mullin, 40, at the scene and charged him with second-degree murder...

Man charged with sexual assault on teen

Halton police have charged an 18-year-old man after a teen girl was allegedly sexually assaulted.

Officers were called to an apartment building on Surrey Lane, near King Road, around 7: 10 p.m. Saturday.

Police had received reports that a 16-year-old girl had been sexually assaulted...

Boy, 13, gets probation in sexual assault case

The sexual assault on a 10-year-old girl by four boys in a Halifax park last April was described Friday by the Crown as "a bullying incident that got out of hand and went to another level."

In Halifax youth court Friday, one of the boys, who turned 13 last month, was sentenced to one year on probation for his role in the attack, which left the girl traumatized, afraid of boys and even fearful of her own father and eight-year-old brother.
