Professor makes 'Most Wanted' list

Accused murderer George Zinkhan III now is one of America's Most Wanted.

Authorities don't know where the University of Georgia professor fled after he shot and killed his wife and two men in Athens on Saturday, or even if he still is alive.

But the "America's Most Wanted" television show added Zinkhan to a list of fugitives on its Web site Wednesday, and the program might produce a segment about the slayings...

2 students dead in murder-suicide at Michigan community college

A 20-year-old woman and a 28-year-old man were killed during a murder-suicide at Henry Ford Community College Friday, police have confirmed.


The two were in a theater class together today, but police were unable to substantiate any relationship between the two, Dearborn’s deputy police chief, Gregg Brighton, said.
Dearborn police identified the two as 20-year-old Asia McGowan of Ecorse, Mich., and 28-year-old Anthony Powell of Detroit.

Earlier Friday, police responding to a 12:40 p.m. report of a campus assault were inside the fine arts building when a shotgun blast was heard. Police then entered Room F-111 and found the bodies...

Graduate student decapitated on campus

A graduate student from China was decapitated with a kitchen knife in a campus cafe at Virginia Tech by another graduate student who knew her, police said Thursday.

Xin Yang, 22, was killed Wednesday night after arriving at the campus from Beijing on Jan. 8 to begin studying accounting, Virginia Tech Police Chief Wendell Flinchum said.

The suspect, Haiyang Zhu, 25, of Ningbo, China, knew the victim, but no motive for the slaying has been determined, Chief Flinchum said. School records showed that Mr. Haiyang was listed as one of Miss Xin's emergency contacts...

Anderson University student reports kidnapping, sexual assault

An Anderson University student told police that two men kidnapped her as she walked near campus early this morning and then sexually assaulted her, according to the Anderson Police Department.

The 18-year-old woman was treated at AnMed Health and released, said police spokesman C. Randall Williams.

Students have been notified of the incident and were urged to call a campus safety officer for an escort if they planned on going out alone after dark, said university spokesman Barry Ray...

Danger on campus College students more likely to be sexually assaulted

Sex crimes profiler Steve Thompson says sexual aggression is the number one problem facing college campuses.

"Nearly one in four women attending a university will be a survivor of a sexual assault," said Thompson at a campus forum at Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge recently.

College students are more likely than the average population to be sexually assaulted by someone they know, said Thompson, who has worked as a sex crimes profiler on high profile rape cases, including the Kobe Bryant trial. He defines sexual assault as rape, domestic violence, stalking and harassment...
