Fugitive kills wife, self in Flagstaff hotel

Police say a California fugitive wanted on child molestation charges killed his wife and turned the gun on himself in Flagstaff after spotting officers preparing to arrest him.

Police in Oceanside, Calif. say 52-year-old Andone Hairabedian was wanted on five counts of molesting a girl under 14.

Cambodia Arrests Suspected Pedophiles from US, France

Cambodian police have arrested an American and a French national on suspicion of molesting children. One organization that helped police catch the suspects worries that, despite increasing arrests, foreign pedophiles are still making Cambodia one of their prime destinations.

Cambodian authorities say the 64-year-old Frenchman was arrested after taking two Cambodian girls, aged 10 and 13, into his guesthouse room.

He was charged with "indecent acts" and could face up to three years in prison.

Separately, an American man charged with purchasing sex from two underage boys in northern Cambodia could be jailed for up to 15 years...

Ex-school bus driver admits to abuse charge

Former school bus driver Alan A. Hamann admitted in Wyoming County Court Tuesday that he attempted to molest a Warsaw Central student on his bus.

Hamann, 64, of Gainesville, as part of a plea agreement reached by the attorneys in the case, pleaded guilty to one count of first-degree attempted sexual abuse of a girl less than 11 years old. The charge is a Class E felony.

Hamann, answering questions from Wyoming County Judge Michael F. Griffith, said "I plead guilty" to attempted sexual abuse for his own gratification, for an incident that occurred in the period between September 2007 and April 2008. Several members of Hamann's family accompanied him to court Tuesday...

Girl: I was fed up with father's abuse of sister

The sister of a girl who was allegedly molested and impregnated four times by their father says she waited until she turned 18 to come forward because she was afraid of being placed in state custody. "My dad was doing all this crazy stuff," the 18-year-old told The Associated Press in an interview Thursday. "I got fed up with it until I finally ran my mouth. ... I couldn't see my sister suffer anymore. That's why I wanted her out."

She said her sister, now 19, was 13 when their father started molesting her. The 18-year-old said her sibling confided in her about the abuse after becoming pregnant the first time.

Legal change: Abused woman who kill could escape murder

Victims of domestic abuse will be able to use the defence of "fear of serious violence" against a murder charge, if they can demonstrate a "slow burn" of abuse.

It would see them face a charge of manslaughter instead.

The Coroners and Justice Bill will also propose scrapping the current defence of provocation for all but the most extreme cases.

It means a man who kills his wife after discovering she was unfaithful - a so-called crime of passion - will no longer have the defence of provocation...
