Special Education Aide Christopher French Likely to Plead Guilty in Rape Case

A teacher’s aide from Winchester is expected to plead guilty to charges he used the Internet to lure girls into pornography and sex, raping one 14-year-old.

Christopher French, who was an special education aide at McCall Middle School, was charged last year with one count of rape and 17 other charges, including possession of child pornography and enticement of a child under the age of 16.

Prosecutors said the 29-year-old French groomed girls through online chats, sending and receiving naked photographs. In one case, he is accused of raping a 14-year-old girl at her house...

North Slope Borough police are investigating an apparent murder-suicide in Barrow.

Police got a report of shots fired and a woman lying in the street early Saturday morning. They found 19-year-old Frederick Igtanloc and a 16-year-old girl both suffering from gunshot wounds.

Mexico arrests US man accused of raping 19 women

A Texas man has been arrested for allegedly raping 19 women across the border in the northern Mexican city of Ciudad Juarez, authorities said Monday.

Jorge Alberto Mendez, 42, was arrested Saturday while trying to cross into Mexico from El Paso, Texas, where he lives, said regional Deputy Attorney General Alejandro Pariente.

Pariente said the investigation began in April 2008 with the rape of a 15-year-old girl. Similar cases were subsequently reported.

One of the victims managed to write down the license plate number of her assailant, which eventually led to Mendez's arrest, Pariente said...

A registered sex offender from Kingston has pleaded guilty to raping a 13-year-old girl, the Ulster County District Attorney’s Office said Wednesday.

Jerome Fischer, 27, formerly of 81 Cedar St., pleaded guilty Tuesday in Ulster County Court before County Judge J. Michael Bruhn to charges of felony rape and violating the conditions of his probation.

Fischer was arrested Dec. 22, 2008, by Kingston police on charges he supplied the 13-year-old victim with liquor and beer during the evening of Dec. 21 until she became unconscious, according to a press release from the Ulster County District Attorney’s Office. Teens arrested on sexual assault charges

A 16-year-old male and a 15-year-old male were arrested Sunday on sexual assault charges involving an intoxicated 14-year-old female.

According to Sgt. Dave Thompson, with the Sonoma County Sheriff's Department Domestic Violence and sexual Assault Unit, at about 2:23 a.m. Sunday, deputies from the Sonoma Valley sheriff's substation stopped a vehicle at Verano Avenue and Riverside Drive for suspected drunk driving. Three juvenile males, all Agua Caliente residents ranging in age from 12 to 16, and a juvenile female, age 14, also a Sonoma Valley resident, were in the vehicle.

The female told deputies that she had been sexually assaulted by at least one of the males in the car. The female was transported to Sonoma Valley Hospital where she was treated for heavy alcohol intoxication and later released. Thompson said the juveniles had been drinking wine at El Verano Elementary School on Riverside Drive from about 12:30 to about 2:25 a.m...

Girl: I was fed up with father's abuse of sister

The sister of a girl who was allegedly molested and impregnated four times by their father says she waited until she turned 18 to come forward because she was afraid of being placed in state custody. "My dad was doing all this crazy stuff," the 18-year-old told The Associated Press in an interview Thursday. "I got fed up with it until I finally ran my mouth. ... I couldn't see my sister suffer anymore. That's why I wanted her out."

She said her sister, now 19, was 13 when their father started molesting her. The 18-year-old said her sibling confided in her about the abuse after becoming pregnant the first time.
