Joe Harvey Jr of Illinois Has Raped an Infant

Authorities say a 27-year-old suburban Chicago man has been charged with sexual assault and abuse of an infant.

The Kendall County Sheriff's office says Joe Harvey Jr. was charged after the mother noticed injuries to the child last week and went to an Aurora hospital.

Other details aren't available, including the gender and age of the infant.

Harvey's a former boyfriend of the 20-year-old mother. On Saturday night, the Montgomery man was still in jail on a $250,000 bond. His arraignment's Monday...

A former U.S. soldier on trial in the gang rape of an Iraqi girl and the murder of her and her family in the war zone in 2006 was caught in a "perfect storm of insanity," his lawyer told a jury on Monday.

But government prosecutors in the same courtroom said former Private 1st Class Steven Green, alleged ringleader of the slayings, was only interested in killing Iraqis "nonstop" and bragged during a barbecue celebration later that what he had done was "awesome."

Green, 23, is being tried in federal court as a civilian since his arrest came after he was discharged from the U.S. Army later in 2006 for a "personality disorder."...

Big Top founder pleads not guilty to felony sexual assault, battery charges

The founder and artistic director of the Lake Superior Big Top Chautauqua pleaded not guilty today to felony charges of sexual assault and battery.

Warren Paul Nelson, 61, entered the plea during a hearing in Bayfield County Circuit Court. He waived his preliminary hearing, and his attorney, Gene Linehan, filed a demand for a speedy trial.

A Beloit man accused of having sex with an Orfordville teen faces two felony charges of sexual assault of a child under 16.

1 girl's mother testifies in Vegas video sex case

A mother told a Nevada jury Tuesday that her young daughter whispered to her that she was molested by a man who also is accused of videotaping his sexual assault of a 2-year-old.

"She kept whispering in my ear," said the mother, whose testimony was interrupted several times while Clark County District Court Judge Jennifer Togliatti ruled that the mother's recollections of what her then 6-year-old daughter told her in December 2003 were admissible evidence against Chester Arthur Stiles.

Stiles has pleaded not guilty to 11 counts of sexual assault with a minor under 14 years of age, 10 counts of lewdness with a child under 14, and one charge of attempted sexual assault with a minor under 14. All but one of the counts could mean life in prison if he is convicted...

This morning sexual assault suspect Jonathon Brown was in first appearance. Brown is being held with no bond. He is accused of sexually assaulting a woman in broad daylight.

According to Delray Beach Police, 41-year old Jonathan Brown had followed a 69-year old woman into that breezeway at the Delray Crossing Plaza along Linton Boulevard. Police say Brown grabbed the victim from behind, threw her to the ground and started sexually assaulting her between two columns there. This all happened at around 10:00 in the morning...

Teens arrested on sexual assault charges

A 16-year-old male and a 15-year-old male were arrested Sunday on sexual assault charges involving an intoxicated 14-year-old female.

According to Sgt. Dave Thompson, with the Sonoma County Sheriff's Department Domestic Violence and sexual Assault Unit, at about 2:23 a.m. Sunday, deputies from the Sonoma Valley sheriff's substation stopped a vehicle at Verano Avenue and Riverside Drive for suspected drunk driving. Three juvenile males, all Agua Caliente residents ranging in age from 12 to 16, and a juvenile female, age 14, also a Sonoma Valley resident, were in the vehicle.

The female told deputies that she had been sexually assaulted by at least one of the males in the car. The female was transported to Sonoma Valley Hospital where she was treated for heavy alcohol intoxication and later released. Thompson said the juveniles had been drinking wine at El Verano Elementary School on Riverside Drive from about 12:30 to about 2:25 a.m...

A Madison County man has been ordered to spend eight years in prison in the 2005 sexual attack of a 13-year-old girl.

Thirty-nine-year-old Anson Carr declined to address the judge before being sentenced Wednesday in Edwardsville in southwestern Illinois.

SJAFB airman will face sexual assault charge

A U.S. Air Force technical sergeant has been charged in connection with the sexual assault of a 13-year-old boy and with allegedly showing him pornographic material, the Wayne County Sheriff's Office said Wednesday.

An investigation was launched after family members alleged that Jeremiah Williams Powers, 32, of Country Acres Road, had sexually assaulted the boy, investigators said.

Powers is a member of the 4th Fighter Wing's Equip-ment Maintenance Squad-ron, and because of that affiliation with Seymour Johnson Air Force Base, the base's Office of Special Investigation was contacted, Sheriff's Office Capt. Tom Effler said...

Hoops star to face sexual assault charges

Former Bonackers basketball star Michael Russell will face sexual assault charges in New Hampshire after he is freed from a Suffolk County jail later this year.

Mr. Russell, who was sentenced January 20 to one year in jail for two burglaries in East Hampton last summer, has already served three months of his sentence. His attorney here hopes that he will be released within eight months.

Two teenage boys have been arrested in connection with the alleged sexual assault of a 14-year-old girl in a car in Sonoma early Sunday morning.

Sheriff's deputies stopped a motorist around 2:30 a.m. at Verano Avenue and Riverside Drive, near Maxwell Farms Regional Park, on suspicion of drunken driving, Sonoma County Sheriff's Sgt. Dave Thompson said.

Anderson University student reports kidnapping, sexual assault

An Anderson University student told police that two men kidnapped her as she walked near campus early this morning and then sexually assaulted her, according to the Anderson Police Department.

The 18-year-old woman was treated at AnMed Health and released, said police spokesman C. Randall Williams.

Houston's violent crime shows slight increase in 2008

Violent crimes in Houston increased slightly in 2008 compared with 2007 but property crimes dropped sharply last year — showing a more than 10 percent decline, according to statistics released Thursday by Houston police officials.

Among violent crimes, homicides dropped by 16 percent, but sexual assaults increased more than 8 percent from 2007, officials said. Aggravated assaults showed the largest increase in the violent crime category - at 9.1 percent.

HPD officials say the overall increase in violent crime — less than 1 percent — may be attributed to the effects of Hurricane Ike on the Houston area as well as the faltering economy...
