Atkins man pleads guilty to sexual assault

An Atkins man pleaded guilty May 19 to second-degree sexual assault and has been sentenced to three years and six months in the Arkansas Department of Correction by Circuit Judge William M. Pearson.

Robert L. McCabe, 39, was arrested in March 2008 after the Pope County Sheriff’s Office (PCSO) received information he may have engaged in sexual contact with a 3-year-old girl.

Man arrested after break-in, sexual assault

Barron police have arrested a man in connection with an early-morning break-in and rape last week in the city. The suspect has since been criminally charged.

Joseph R. Stoeberl, 38, of Barron had his initial appearance Jan. 22 in Barron County Circuit Court before Judge Tim Doyle on charges of second-degree sexual assault with use of force, burglary and criminal damage to property. The judge established a $2,500 cash bond for the defendant, and a Jan. 29 preliminary hearing date has been scheduled.
