LaPorte man arrested in child luring case

The Larimer County Sheriff's Office arrested a man Friday night they believe tried to lure children into his pickup truck that evening in LaPorte and might be involved in an attempted abduction in Fort Collins on Tuesday.

Michael Don Ashcraft, 41, of LaPorte, was arrested during a traffic stop about 9 p.m. in the 3100 block of Kinsley Court in LaPorte.

Ashcraft matched the physical description of a man who approached five children in an alley behind a LaPorte business about 4 p.m. Friday, asked what they were doing, then claimed he was an undercover officer and told them to get in his truck so he could take them to jail...
